PDP governorship aspirant faults Fayemi on performance{via@Winsomemedia}

Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi

A Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Dayo Adeyeye, has described as ridiculous the claim by Governor Kayode Fayemi that his administration has made landmark achievements in the last three years.

Adeyeye, in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, on Sunday, by the Director General, Prince Adedayo Adeyeye Movement, Bisi Kolawole, said the administration engaged in a waste of public funds.

It said, “Ekiti people cannot be fooled by a government that is spending public funds to advertise non-existing projects like establishment of Fountain  Metropolitan Motors, Ekiti Shopping Mall (Shoprite), Plywood, POP and doors industry; ceramic tiles and sanitary ware industry; industrial park, among others as its achievements.

“It was embarrassing to see the number of non-existing projects listed as achievements of the Fayemi-led government.

“On infrastructure, it was listed that the Fayemi-led government initiated and completed the 14.3km Ilawe-Ikogosi, 30km Ikere-Emure and 11.64km Irele-Ponyan roads. These are roads that were initiated and completed by the immediate past PDP government.

“The roads were already in use several months before Fayemi became governor. Construction of Irele-Ponyan road was part of the reasons Fayemi accused the Segun Oni-led PDP government of behaving like Father Christmas for constructing roads beyond Ekiti borders.

“Also, Fayemi listed provision of 100 transformers as part of his achievements. This is another falsehood because the transformers were part of the 348 transformers Ekiti State got from the National Integrated Power Project before Fayemi became governor.

“On education, reduction of tuition fees of tertiary institutions in the state to N50,000 and award of scholarship to Ekiti students in tertiary institutions were listed as part of Governor Fayemi’s achievements, even when it is public knowledge that no student of the Ekiti State University is paying less than N100, 000 and that the State Scholarship Board established by the past PDP government has been rendered inactive.”

However, in his reaction, the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Tayo Ekundayo, described Adeyeye and his allies in the PDP in the state as bad losers.

He said, “They came, they saw and they lost. They are bad losers and when they were in government in the state, what did they achieve? Let them tell the people of Ekiti what they achieved in office.

“They left behind a debt burden of N42bn and a litany of abandoned projects.

“They are surprised that what they failed to achieve in seven and a half years of their government of locust, our government came and surpassed
